  38. BTW, this is inaccurate.  It is a light called "TR" that goes off.  I doubt 
  39. that it makes any difference to the problem.

  52. Your description of the symptoms associated with a mismatched speed points
  53. in the direction of the solution, apparently.  I am using a ZOOM VFX V.32bis
  54. modem.  I had attempted to SET SPE 28800.  When I changed to 38400, the 
  55. modem responded.  Also works at 57600 and 14400, but not 28.8.
